With Halloween growing in popularity over the recent years, we have decided to put together a go-to list of where to celebrate Halloween in Australia this 2022 season! Uncommonly, there are many places where you can celebrate Halloween in Australia. You can go to a pumpkin patch, or if you want something more exciting, you can go to one of the haunted houses. There are also many events that happen on Halloween night like parties and costume competitions.

Here are some of the best destinations in Australia for you to enjoy this spooky holiday:

Sydney Opera House.

This iconic building is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Australia. It is also one of the best places to celebrate Halloween in Australia. The Opera House offers a variety of events throughout October including ghost tours and theatrical performances that will make you feel like you’re in a horror movie!

Our favourite: Bare Your Bones Creative Workshop with Anney Bounpraseuth. Kids will get to create a fluro, wearable and movable skeleton arm or leg out of cardboard and glow-in-the-dark paint pens. After making your bones, you will play a “thrilling” game of Musical Zombies. Muah ha ha ha ha ha haaaa… Book in for the free event online here.

Melbourne’s Haunted Houses.

Are you ready for Melbourne’s BIGGEST costume party of the year? Well you better be because we already have our fake blood and spider webs ready! From Friday 28 October to Mon 31 October, Luna Park comes back from the dead as Luna Dark. It’s Melbourne’s biggest and most bone-chilling costume party, where zombies, ghouls, ghosts, vampires and people who knew what you did last summer, come out to play. Expect everything from VR horror games, to screaming competitions and your very own SFX horror makeup artist.

Safe to say you’re in for a bloody good time.

Spooktober at Luna Dark.

Halloween Hall – Fortitude Valley.

Harry K’s annual HALLOWEEN party has been a long-standing tradition for party goers in Brisbane, with its costumes giving Comic-Con a devilish run for its money. Lock the 29th of October in your calendars because this year they are back!

Taking place in the heart of the valley, iconic venue, The Fortitude Music Hall will be transformed into a multi-sensory Haunted House featuring a spectacular full main stage production, including a line-up of Australia’s best award-winning talent that will undoubtedly wake up the dead. Headlined by The Veronicas, this one isn’t for the faint of heart (or the young ones) 18+ event.

Whether you’re looking to celebrate Halloween for a day or for an entire month, these destinations provide the perfect ghouls’ night out for all. We hope you have been inspired by our must-do’s across the country this Halloween. So, that leaves us with only one question… What mischief are you getting up to this spooky season?!
