OSCAR'S TOP PICKS FOR MAY
May is here! Our city may be getting chilly, but don’t let the season kill your vibe. May is still packed to the brim with events. Here are our top picks for things to do in Sydney.
1. Rabbitohs v Dragons
13 May @ ANZ Stadium
The NRL season is heating up and this week the Rabbits host the Dragons at ANZ stadium! Will Greg Inglis and his team hand the Dragons only their second loss of the season? Will the Dragons continue their mystical (sorry, not sorry! I just really wanted to make a dragon joke) form? With 4th-10th only separated by points difference, the ladder could see a reshuffle depending on results.
starts 25 May @ various venues
Vivid to most people is the night of the year where Sydney CBD is lit up like a Christmas tree, and every couple gets a photo in the light tunnel at the Botanical Garden. But the event also brings some of the world’s biggest live music acts to our shores including Ice Cube, Solange, and a ton of other great local and international acts.
3. Avengers: Infinity Wars
throughout May @ various theatres; we suggest the Hayden Orpheum or Ritz Cinema Randwick!
Whilst the weather may not permit moonlight and rooftop cinema experiences, that doesn’t mean we aren’t blessed with the ability to see the Avengers: Infinity Wars, a movie that is walking its way up the highest grossing movies of all time list. The movie is the fruit of Marvel Studios labour, a culmination of 18 previous movies and features 22 superheroes. Have a night out! Go see it at one of Sydney’s finest art deco cinemas like the Hayden Orpheum or the Ritz Cinema in Randwick! Have a choc top! Treat yo-self!
4. Sydney Comedy Festival
16th – 19th May @ The Comedy Store
The story goes, smiling makes you live longer, and the Sydney Comedy Festival is a collection of pros in the art of making people laugh. Therefore, going to see some of the best Australian and international comedians who are performing in a number of Sydney venues for the next few weeks is good for your health!
For details about what’s on in the next few weeks, check the Comedy Festivals website here: http://www.sydneycomedyfest.com.au/
5. Bondi Markets
every Sat and Sun in May @ Bondi Beach Public School, Campbell Parade
Every weekend circa ‘93, Bondi Beach Public School has hosted the Bondi Markets. Saturday you can pick up your fresh produce at the farmers markets, and then return on Sunday to see local designers, artists, and craftspeople share their works. The day plans itself really; pre-book your parking with us, walk to any one of Bondi’s cafes for breakfast with a view, and then have a stroll through the market. We’ll see you there : )
